Iain has been a Principal Adviser in several different teams at the New Zealand Ministry of Transport since 2005. He has been responsible for developing policies on a wide range of transport issues in the environment and road safety area. In particular Iain has led policy work on the introduction of vehicle exhaust emissions standards for both new and used vehicles entering New Zealand. He is recognised as an expert in the New Zealand vehicle fleet and is regularly asked  to speak to groups about the vehicle fleet.
Recently Iain has been leading a team that is looking at what, if any, government actions may be required to facilitate the introduction of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) into New Zealand. He is also looking at the possible implications for New Zealand from the divergence of international standards in this field.
